A recent visit from my nieces reminded me of how true this is. They weren’t here for long, and i didn’t even know they were around while i was practicing. i was pleasantly surprised to see their mini mysore-style practice. These children, our future, motivate me to be better when trash ass policy-making adults discourage me into cynicism. They encourage me to process traumas that i pray they never know. They reassure me that this difficult, thankless, isolating work is worth the effort.

Before the pandemic, i was NOT entertaining any virtual, digital, live-stream, pre-recorded NOTHIN (with the exception of one specific led series youtube video by @larugayoga because….it’s LARUGA).
i was resistant to receiving and giving classes online. It felt uncomfortable, difficult and clumsy on some of the better days and invited anxieties no ytt could prepare me for like zoom crashing bc of an overloaded system or offering tech support alongside asanas.
Fast forward 3 years later and i find myself pouting when i wanna take class with a teacher who isn’t local or i just don’t have space to “people” and there’s no online option.
